An experiment in positive thinking…

Year two, day forty-three

Today was okay, but I am far too sick to write this. Here’s a clip.

Year two, day forty-two

  1. I’m proud of myself for my workout today. I overslept, so I skipped my run in the morning and only did the HIIT workout. I did the sculpting workout, but I really half-assed it. So, after work I went for a run and re-did the sculpting workout because I wasn’t satisfied with this morning’s performance. Who am I?
  2. I went to the gym. I was supposed to have a private lesson, but he never showed. So I conditioned with the adult class, jumped on the trampoline for a bit, did some tumbling and had some fun. I really do miss that place.
  3. I started season four of True Blood. So far they’re straying pretty drastically from the book and it’s my favorite book. But I will try to separate the two in my mind and just enjoy the show as a different entity. I wasn’t that into it, but I also had to force myself to turn it off otherwise I’d be watching all night.
  4. Work went well. I covered an event and saw some sources. It’s good to be out in the community. I’m glad that people are recognizing me. I also interviewed a doctor about exercise and heart health. I’m feeling pretty good about my heart health as a result. He’s from Germany, so we talked about that for a bit.
  5. Friday has finally come. Yes!!

Year two, day forty-one

  1. Work was stressful, but fun. I wrote a follow-up story about the homeless man who found his father. It was sweet.
  2. I made healthy egg salad! It’s really good. I can’t wait to have it for lunch tomorrow. I hard-boiled and peeled the eggs, then it has plain greek yogurt, spinach and avocado. Plus some spices. Yay!
  3. I ran a 5k this morning, as planned. My muscles are a little angry, but it was awesome. I set a new record for my 5k and a new distance record because I ran 3.2 miles, instead of 3.1. Whoo!
  4. It’s almost the weekend. So exciting!
  5. I got some knitting done. I need to step it up with this scarf.

Year two, day forty

  1. TurboFire was great today. The HIIT workout really took it out of me. My run went well, too. I’m going for a 5k tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes. It will be my first one of the new year.
  2. Work was fun. I went to a high school, I went to a retirement community and I went to a school board work session. Never a dull day.
  3. I’m recording the State of the Union. It should be good watching tomorrow. After I’ve read all about it.
  4. I missed trivia tonight. I might go tomorrow. I also might not. We’ll see. Jason called me and read me a bunch of trivia questions. It was like I was there.
  5. There was a sale on Zooey’s dog food today. It was a pretty good day.

Year two, day thirty-nine

  1. I wrote an article for the sunday paper about a homeless man who is looking for his father. Thanks to the article he found his father today. It was kind of an awesome feeling. I’m glad I could help. My other stories went well, too.
  2. My run went well. I didn’t realize how hard it was raining/misting. TurboFire was great, too. I’ve lost two pounds since my last weigh-in. Go me!
  3. Jason sent me some amazing GIFs today. Yes. It was a slow day.
  4. I will hopefully have trivia tomorrow. We’ll see. I might have to work late. Maybe I’ll go straight from work again.
  5. My editor brought his dog to the office after hours. I was there waiting for a phone call. She’s very sweet : ).

Year two, day thirty-eight

I forgot to do this last night, so these are from yesterday, Jan. 22.

  1. I watched the AFC championship game. It’s the first football game I’ve watched in a while and it was a good one. Jason even watched it. I’m worried though. The Patriots did not play well. They’re facing the Giants in the superbowl and they need to get it together if they have any hope of beating them.
  2. I wrote an article for the Sunday paper about a man, recently homeless, who is searching for his 90 year-old father. So far it has had a lot of hits online. I got a call Sunday morning from Union County 911. Someone called them to say they know where his father is. I’ll go into the office tomorrow, check messages for any other leads, then give the man a call. I think that’s pretty cool.
  3. We watched some more Homeland. Things are heating up!
  4. TurboFire was awesome today. It was one of the 55 minute workouts. Also, I’ve lost more weight. Go me!
  5. I read a few more chapters in Prisoner of Azkaban before going to bed. Such a good book.

Year two, day thirty-seven

  1. I went to the boys’ meet today. It was a lot of fun. I saw some people I haven’t seen in a while. It was pretty great, actually. I watched one of the team boys compete and he came in second. He was nervous, but he did very well. Plus, I got to catch up with some of my girls.
  2. Jason and I started watching Homeland. It’s good so far. I can see why it has been so acclaimed.
  3. My run went well. I’m not two runs away from my “run faster” goal on Nike Plus. I’m also nine miles away from my next level!
  4. TurboFire went well. It was a core workout and a nice 40 minute stretch. Tomorrow is a 55 minute cardio workout. Whoo!
  5. I get to sleep in tomorrow. I’m so excited : ). I’m not setting my alarm.

Year two, day thirty-six

  1. Geek trivia was fun. Some of the questions needed fact-checking, but it was a good time. We tied for fourth.
  2. Work went well. I wrote my stories and life was good.
  3. TurboFire was great. I made it pretty far with the hand weights. My run was awesome. I ran quickly, too. TurboFire HIIT workouts are doing wonders for my cardio strength.
  4. I got some reading done. Yay!
  5. Jason found a new series for me to be obsessed with. It’s called Big Train and it has Simon Pegg and I’m basically obsessed after one episode.

Year two, day thirty-five

  1. My run was great this morning. TurboFire was crazy. It was a HIIT workout and then a 30 minute toning workout. Ouch. My legs, arms and core are killing me.
  2. Work went well. I was exhausted the whole time. I couldn’t focus. Even dancing around the old warehouse and handstands didn’t help. At least tomorrow is Friday! Yay!
  3. I have geek trivia tomorrow night. Whoo! Then Saturday I’m going to the boy’s meet at the gym and having lunch with Kristen. I’ve missed her. And the gym.
  4. The Jeopardy test is tonight. I’m taking a nap and then taking it. Whoo!
  5. Jason made a delicious lasagna. It was seriously amazing.

Year two, day thirty-four

  1. I ran two miles this morning. It was my first time running more than one mile in a while. It felt pretty good to get out there.
  2. I got my no baby shot this morning and I paid with my health insurance!! It felt awesome to present my card.
  3. Work went well. I wrote my stories and planned for tomorrow. A homeless man came in and told me his story. He’s trying to find his dad, who if alive, will be 90. It should be interesting to see how it all pans out.
  4. I got some knitting done. I’m seeing Stass at the meet this weekend and though I know the scarf won’t be done by then…I’d like to have a bigger dent in it. Especially since I’m seeing Kristen, too and I haven’t started her scarf.
  5. I watched last night’s Glee. The show is slipping, but it had some nice moments. The Graham Norton Show was hilarious.
